How do our Dermal Fillers work for you?
When you meet with Katrina for your consultation, she will assess your skin to see which product will work best for you. She will explain the service to undergo & may begin treatments on the same day.
The longevity of each treatment varies. Katrina will give you comprehensive advice on which solution will give you the most natural, rejuvenated skin.
Dermal fillers are smooth injectable gels comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA imitates a sugar molecule which occurs naturally in your body's skin cell production. When we inject this substance into your skin, it fills in space where you've lost volume.
HA also attracts water, so the areas which have been injected will become more hydrated — leaving you fresh-faced and youthful-looking.
Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to your cheeks and lips, and smooth out any unwanted lines.
What are the benefits of Dermal Fillers?
- Immediate Results
Dermal fillers are instant and immediately add volume and smooth out wrinkles and creases to the targeted area. As the filler settles under the skin, the full effect is visible in a matter of days. It may take up to 4 weeks for the filler to reach full integration with the surrounding tissue.
- Shape & Symmetry
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical option to reshape areas such as the chin, jawline, or lips. Dermal filler treatments can be tailored to achieve subtle enhancements to your natural facial shape, even out the texture by filling in lines and create symmetry.
- Create Volume & Fullness
Dermal fillers are an affordable way to replicate the function of this naturally occurring substance and can restore fullness and volume in numerous facial areas.
- Long Lasting
Dermal Fillers can last up to three to six months and in some cases longer depending on how fast the body metabolises the product.
Who should get Dermal Fillers?
If you've noticed a loss of volume in your cheeks, or your lips have become noticeably smaller in recent years, then you'd be a good candidate for dermal fillers.
Not a problem for you? Sometimes, people get dermal fillers to improve their bone structure. Some clients have weak bone structures around the cheek or jaw, and book dermal filler treatments to plump and define these areas.
Dermal fillers can be injected all over the face, including to:
- Add volume to lips
- Plump out cheeks
- Fill in lines on the forehead
- Remove Marionette lines and nasolabial folds
- Reduce the appearance of scars
Which areas can you treat with Dermal Fillers?
We mostly recommend dermal fillers to firm up the jawline and cheeks. We also use it to treat bags below the eyes, or puffiness in that area.
How do the Dermal Fillers work?
After we assess your skin, and created your treatment plan, we'll create an appointment for your treatment. You'll arrive on the day, with no makeup on the area to be treated. Katrina will apply a topical cream to numb the area. Then, using a needle, they'll insert the dermal filler solution in a series of tiny punctures.
Do Dermal Fillers hurt?
When dermal fillers are inserted, clients sometimes report the feeling of a mosquito bite or slightly more intense stinging sensations.
How long do Dermal Fillers last?
It depends on the product, and the location. The parts of your face which experience a lot of movement are the most likely to dissolve the quickest. At the maximum effect, our dermal fillers last any where between 6 months to 18 months, according to the product used.
Preparing for Dermal Filler treatments
You'll need to do a couple of things to prepare your skin before you receive the treatment.
- Avoid alcohol the day before your treatment — even a glass of wine can cause excessive swelling
- For a week before, avoid aspirin, exercise, and any other chemical peels or skin solution treatments
- We'll give you a more detailed document with preparation and aftercare instructions when you come in for your consultation.
How to take care of your skin post-treatment
For 24 hours after your treatment, you will need to:
- Avoid alcohol and rigorous activities which will increase your blood pressure
- Apply ice on and off for the first four hours to reduce swelling
- Gently massage the treated areas at home, using a clean cloth, if you feel lumps and bumps
- After the first 24 hours, you can continue to use cold compresses on and off to further reduce swelling. Don't take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications, as these increase the potential for bruising.
If you have any questions after this appointment, don't hesitate to call or email us.

The most common side effects occur within 24 hours or immediately post-treatment. These include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness.
